Okay, given my time constraints these days, I thought I’d start a daily series for a month or so that’ll be easy to update. And for a colossal idiot like myself, one of the easiest things to write about is stuff I don’t understand. Those little ‘whys’ I have no answer to that hit me every day. Expect one a day until I have a rant or an original thought. Could take a while…

Why are people so critical of the President?

Doesn’t matter if it’s a guy that chokes on a pretzel or cheats on his wife, people get all worked up over the shithead in the Oval Office. It just seems to me that these people don’t matter. We haven’t had a president who had any meaningful impact on the world around him since FDR. Since then we’ve had a bunch of yutzes, some slightly more worthy of respect than others.

It’s a profession full of liars and hypocrites and none of them, none of them, are worthy of anyone’s time or consideration.

Politicians just aren’t Great Men anymore. Not one. We’ve had perhaps a half-dozen presidents in our history that could be labeled as Great Men. All the rest fall into one of two very simple categories: Pretty Decent Guy or Kind Of A Dick. FDR was the last great one, and since he croaked…

Lyndon Johnson doesn’t count. He wasn’t so much a president as he was an evil, talking scrotum.

And to avoid sparking a debate, I’m talking about the men, not the legacies. Carter was a pretty comical president, but he’s a good guy. Clinton was extremely popular, while also being a degenerate prick. The Bush clan… Well, at best, George and George are superb proof that some people should not breed.

With the current state of our media and the staggering ignorance of our citizenry, our elections guarantee that we’ll be represented by the least qualified people possible. Leadership is about confidence and conviction; traits that are most vividly demonstrated through risk-taking and personal success. Today’s ‘best’ candidate would be a guy who has done absolutely nothing with his life and stands for nothing, because every questionable decision, action, or opinion they’ve had since birth will be used to destroy them. Living and thinking are not options for the successful politician.

This has been the story since I’ve been eligible to vote in a presidential election. Not one guy worth voting for. Not even close. So I don’t vote.

That’s right. I said it. I don’t vote.

“Well that means you have no right to criticize.”

Bullshit. For me, not voting is a statement. Apathy and disinterest have nothing to do with it. I would LOVE to vote. Just put a guy up there worth voting for. Show me an intelligent guy who has lived a real life and stands for something I believe in, and I’ll be the first voter in line.

Bush, Kerry, Gore, Dole, Clinton? Assholes. All of ‘em. I’m not taking a half day off of work to vote for an asshole.

Why? Because that time would be much better spent clipping my toenails. Our system is broken. It’s like a game where no one likes the rules and no one ever wins. And until it’s fixed, I don’t wanna play.

    Absolutely nothing.

  2. Fix it. Run for office. Somebody has to start somewhere, at some level. Yes, the pay stinks. Yes, your life becomes a fishbowl to the world. But someone has to kick arrogant, entitled assholes like Ted Kennedy out of office. Start a new political party — the Jagpot Party. People are waiting for the white knight… Sir Jag. Senator Jag. President Jag. We begin bombing in 10 minutes.
